The Easiest Way to Lower Your Phone Bill

Cut Expenses· Home· Money· Save

Cell phone bills can be super expensive! Are you paying more than you should? Did you know that you can probably get the same amount of services for less money? You can! And it’s super easy. Today I am sharing the easiest way to lower your phone bill.

The Easiest way to Lower your Phone Bill - I could not believe how easy it ways to drastically cut my cell phone costs using this simple strategy. It totally works!! You have to try this if you are paying too much for your phone.

The Easiest Way to Lower your Phone Bill

If you want to keep receiving the same amount of services (data, texting, minutes) from your cell phone provider but you’d like to pay less each month, you just need to call your provider and tell them that!

Okay, it’s a little more complicated than that… but only a little!

Call and ask to speak with retention services. Tell the agent that you are directed to that you have enjoyed the service provided by them so far but your monthly bill is just too expensive so you are considering switching to a less expensive provider unless they can lower the price.Expense Cutting Workbook - A step-by-step guide to lowering expenses and saving money

They will probably offer to lower your services. Clearly state that you would like to keep the same level of services, just pay less for them.

I also like to mention some ads for other companies that are currently running. For example, I’ll say something like “Sprint will cut my cell phone bill in half! I don’t want to pay more than I have to.” They’ll tell you that their service is better/more reliable than whatever company you’ve mentioned. Tell them you only care about the price.

They will probably say they need to talk to their manager and put you on hold. Every time I’ve done this (every few years) they reduce the price of my bill by at least $20!

Of course, I don’t really plan to cancel my service if they don’t reduce my bill. But they’ve never called my bluff! If they did I’d simply tell them I need to double check with my husband before I can cancel. They’re not going to make you cancel your service. You really have nothing to lose!

The only drawback of this is that sometimes it can be a long phone call. Last time I did this, I called on speakerphone while I was driving to my sister’s house which is 45 minutes away. I spent about half the ride on the call. I think it’s more than worth it to save $20 every month!

Bonus tip: We save a TON of money on our phone bill by using a family plan with other family members. My mom and sister are on my family plan. We break the bill evenly each month (if anyone goes over they are responsible for that portion). It is much cheaper than having an individual plan!
